Splitters Falls, Grampians National Park,
This is the best rainfall we have had in a very long time.

  1. Very nice, Thomas! I probably would add a little bit more colours on rocks.
I wish all Australian waterfalls always have enough water. I remember a few years ago I shot Apsley falls in NSW. It was like a small almost dry creek. Last spring I shot it again right after the rain – it was like Niagara.

  2. Hi Tom,
I thought I’d check your blog to see if you had got out and about shooting after that nice rain event….and you did !
I like the first image batter as it includes more of the elements other than the waterfall itself in it. Nice work.

    • Cheers Tony,
It was pissing down was raining when I took this, had the Akubra sitting on the 5D MKII. Plus my remote shutter packed it in so I had the timer on, so it was a pain in the arse.

  3. Love waterfalls shots keep em coming. I guess because there is pretty much none around Perth

  4. Very nice mate! I agree with Neal
that second one is my favourite!

  5. Hi Tom,

I was at Erskine Falls near Lorne the other day and trying to take photos of the waterfall but struggled to get the water looking as good as yours in this picture. What settings did you have your camera on for these shots?

    Chris

    • Hey mate,
It was a f/16, 1 second exposure with ISO 200, I must have forgot to turn my ISO back down to 100 but doesn’t matter. I was also using a Graduated Neutral Density Filter however a polariser would be fine.
I must do a waterfall road trip through the Otways one day.

      Cheers,
      Tom

  6. wow that’s stunning! i’ve got to try this some day (:
